I have well water and would like to setup a whole house water filter using big lewd (20"x4.5" cartridge supporting) filters with 1" inlets. There is a neutralizer before the intended filter setup to produce the pH to the right range.

The contemplate is Way-elaborate for the water you described. All you need is a GE Smart Filter or a Culligan Whole House Filter with a Dregs type element. A simple IN/OUT installation. Forget all the stages and gages, and the affliction will be fine.

I am in the supermarket for either a water softner or a whole house filtration system. My question is two fold, does one have any particulay help over the other in terms of purification or are they basically the same but just filter by different means?

Best Question....I too, have the same question and am curious of the answers to secure. We have sulfur water and a water softener doesn't seem to do much for the taste or the odor. Guilt-ridden I didn't answer your question...but thanks for asking it
