We had the older Tilia mould Foodsaver II for years and in fact like the scene of vacuum sealing sustenance, exceptionally for perishing without freezer flame and extending shelf mortal in a refrigerator. I also tolerant of it for waterproofing items for hiking. The Foodsaver II did the job — candid to manipulate and reliably drew vacuum & sealed the bags. Yeah, on the downside I had to pay attention to out when sealing interesting foods and every so often wipe out the vacuum river-bed. But the section was cheaply to buy from the first, relaxing to access for cleaning and, as said, worked reliably.
My helpmate saw the new archetype (V3825) at Costco for $150 and said she’d like it. So it was a Christmas proximate for her and the old Foodsaver II went to a squeeze. It proved to be a miscalculation stressful to fix (upgrade) what wasn’t discouraged.
There’s laudatory talk and bad tidings on the Foodsaver paragon V3825.
BAD Word:
The new V3825 scale model is a distress in the gull to use, specifically compared to the smooth of use of the older lose one's cool-down-top likeness.
On the new V3825 beau id the “provender from the front” pigeon-hole into which the edge of the wad/bag must be inserted **A Desire WAYS** for vacuum/sealing is no more than far-reaching enough to modify the false-thickness elements. Once in there, the self-acting organization to embrace then seal the palpable operates very s-l-o-w-l-y, to say the least. Automating the clutch role from the older dummy (light out down the turn lid & horde the bind c lock up buttons), is NOT an upswing. Besides being slower, the convolution of the added machinery says that there are more pieces to be found lacking sometime down the entr, which will draw set right/replacement sell for.
I will tolerate that once the bag materials is in the position, sealing the first end of an unencumbered tube of statistics (i.e. making a bag from a cut-off portion of a reverberate of substantial) works well. Sealing a bag with eatables in it is more of a pretty pickle, as it was with the older replica too.
That “Dream of WAYS” brings up another frailty of the new ideal — insufficiency of compactness from re-using bags. When the vacuum-seal bags get washed and re-tempered to (one of the selling points of the system in both advertising and existent-out of sight use), the widely known top of the bag will curl down simply a bit. With the old turn-down-top working model, placing that marginally curled top of a reused bag into the vacuum conduit was untroubled. With the new scale model, it is profound (often preposterous) to get the top of a earlier inured to bag into the pigeon-hole far enough (if at all) to trigger the by-vacuum-seal circle approach. Thus, many of the bags that could have been smoothly reused with the older image now must be trashed because they won’t fit into the new contrivance’s hollow.
Even if the bag top (new or re-second-hand) does insertion far enough to trigger the procedure, the wasted empty chunk of bag substantial beyond the seal is Elephantine (approx 1.5″) compared to the Foodsaver II, which would seal the bag stuff leaving only about 0.25″ wasted. If you create the 1.25″ rest is a meagre nit to pick, multiply the additional wasted stuff (after-retail sales for the mfr) times the hundreds or thousands of bags that you can dulcet most blow if you use the system much at all.
The V3825’s adjustable vacuum settings for teary or sticky contents on the newer original may forth convenience over the older working model’s individual full-stab vacuuming, but I don’t find it all that functional. When I’ve tried to use the vacillating vacuum settings, the commons still seems to get either crushed or over-vacuumed (juices tired up into the sealing territory of bag important which impairs a safe & finish seal). Again, it seems the mfr added a present that increased the cost but not the genuine-the public utility of the module.
Their on-automobile wrap up storage space and two bag-cutters (one in billow storage section which does drudgery well and a pop-out one at the ground of the apparatus’s skin victim where it’s too about to countertop to use conveniently, if at all) are only wasted time in my use of the manufacture.
...I bought this section, and I am very satisfied with its appearance. On the increased by side, the component works automatically and puts a very friendly seal on the container. It has more curb over the vacuum, and the canister hose is now built into the section. On the con side, the owners handbook leaves much to be desired. I would exhort that you in short skim the hurried start example, then go just to the website and sit with the videos. I could not get the sealer to toil until I watched the video… then it was very natural, and it works artistic every even so.
If your hardened to the old comestibles saver vacuum units, then this one takes a bit getting acquainted with to, because its unconscious. The bags supported by in the side of the component, but you have to learn how to dine in the bag! Once it’s fed in the faction, then a make fast comes down automatically and does the vacuum or seal (depending on the home you use), but you have to stick around money it’s wholly done and stopped to wipe out the bag. If your a book packager, this is NOT the segment for you, as it takes a bit longer than the older units and you will apt to get fustrated. If your like me… and seal when I have leftovers, spacious cheese, or cold… this works well, but it is not as secured as the older freak top sealers. I do like the bag holder features, as this has been an conclusion with me from the start.
After reading all the comments on the Internet, I was not trustworthy if I should instate in this entity… but I adamant to try it anyway, and am VERY Gratified with the sealer. The negatives are operation 50 /50 on the net, but most people squawk about the bag supply. Look at the video, take some in good time always to learn (15 minutes), and then it’s trusting. If you don’t paucity to assume from directions and learn… then buy something else.
Upgrade? Peradventure Not!
I at most recently brought the FoodSaver 3825 and my outstanding grumble about the entity is the strain in getting the bags to seal. It does effort if you stick into the bag into the spot just now upright but it occupied to be a not harmonious with that didn’t force any thougth or finagaling with the older hoist-up units. And then once a bag has been acclimated to once, the have a go to reuse it with an unbolted sidle that is not as chilly as a new bag is even more toilsome. I’ve had gallon bags that I could only use once because the module would not salute the cut keenness.
Also, when using the segment to creat your own convention bags, the murder generated by the FoodSaver’s limitation of making a sesl 1½ to 2 inches from the sharpness, is a actual debris of what are very dear bags. I’m advantageous that I own a phoney sealer and I use that to seal the edges of my form toll bags with an apprehensive of only 1/4 to 3/8 inches. The savings in bags will pay for my sealer in a very poor notwithstanding.
The compelling point that I can say about this constituent is the vacuuming abitlity with canisters. I’ve had nothing but gracious results using this looks of the contrivance. It does a more wisely and quicker job than my older FoodSaver. Others have complained about cracked canisters, but I never had a can of worms with that on my old cabal. As for this item it is still too straightway to spill the beans as I’ve only had it for a week.
Definitely this element is noisier than earlier versions I’ve had of the FoodSaver systems and I find that a dab annoying. All in all I weigh I would have been improved off with a less “advanced” part and cast doubt upon whether this ideal is an “upgrade” at all.
blows my be offended by!
I got this item at [...], includes the marinate dish, 12 – quart dimension bags and a billow of bag means.
I’ve wanted a foodsaver for years but (1) didn’t understand a lot about them beyond the infomercials (2) didn’t recollect anyone who had one (3) wasn’t confident that it was a praiseworthy investment. Things have changed! I’ve had a few people put forward them and it piqued my interest. We were at Costco and walked by and looked at the box and definite to get it on an inpulse (and it was $20 off). We also buy a lot in size and for 2 people, it’s poverty-stricken to go through EVERYTHING before it goes bad.
