I take over it's 212 F since that's the temp for water to boil.

Edit: Maybe I answered too right away! Water boils at 212 F at Sea Level. I live thorough enough that I don't worry about the slight variation, but it would be different

Where can I buy a whistle for a tea kettle?

NOT the whole kettle, Straight the whistle part. I have a tea kettle that just has an ordinary spout, I need a whistle to set on it so I know when it is boiling. Refrain from!!!

You could look around yard sales or scrimping stores but honestly, it's probably easier to just get a new tea kettle and seed flowers in the other one.

I'm wretched. I've looked everywhere and from what I can see, nobody sells them separately. I checked Williams Sonoma who I figured has EVERYTHING and even they didn't have anything. Virtuousness luck finding one!!

Ever a fan of a civilized (and delicious) respite for afternoon tea, here I present to you two divergent ways to raise your pinky in the city.

Kettle Whistle at Burritt Room: A g ourmand's pop-up tea

Currently scheduled to take place on the last Saturday of every month through October, Kettle Whistle launched its inaugural tea this past week in the spacious back room of Burritt Room's turn-of-the-century-style bar, tucked upstairs in the Crescent Hotel.

The brainchild of pastry chef par excellence William Werner of Tell Tale Preserve Co. and tea mavens Lawrence Lai and Ann Lee of Naivetea , Kettle Whistle is essentially a pop-up high tea, one where ladies (and men) meet over crumpets and scones. But this is no typical tea.

At a pricey $55 per head, it's even more costly than high tea at the stunning Palace Hotel -- but Kettle Whistle has vastly superior food and drinks. Though dishes and tea pairings will rotate, you can be assured of three themed courses: savory bites, followed by scones and crumpets (the passion fruit olive oil curd on this tray will blow your mind -- regular old lemon curd might never seem the same), ending with dessert. There's even a take home bag of tea and a snack (mine came labeled "damn good granola," a savory-sweet mix).

Cypress Hill's infectious 2000 anthem "Rock Superstar" has a memorable line debunking the myth of easy fame in the music industry: "You got to go for the gusto, but you don't know about the blood, sweat and tears."

That applies to the restaurant business as well. Despite the way it has been glamorized by television, running a (successful) restaurant is hard, gritty work.

This week, word came out about three chefs who have been on sabbaticals of sorts getting back into the daily grind. Why do they do it?

"It's that daily creativity. It's working with the same people over and over again and getting ameliorate together," says Stuart Brioza , who signed a lease with his wife, pastry chef Nicole Krasinski , to open State Bird Provisions in San Francisco's Fillmore district (1529 Fillmore St.).

Brioza and Krasinski were last seen at the now-closed Rubicon , and they've spent the past few years traveling, starting a family and cooking at private events. Now they're leaving the private cooking gigs to open a casual 50-seat restaurant later this year.

The Joyce Chen Stainless 3 Quart Chinese Tea Kettle is the best bib designed Kettle I've found. It is personal property sized and yet clobber chance mass. The Joyce Chen tea kettle is completely what I was looking for. I wanted a kettle with candidly sides and a improbable spew up that wouldn't spew boiling dishwater all over the stovetop. I needed a 3 quart responsibility, and I did NOT paucity a whistle. This kettle is excellent for imperceptible deference use to vehemence bath-water for beverages.
